Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 26, 2026
This policy explains what information FirstMillion collects, why, and what you can do about it. Our website address is https://firstmillion.fyi.
If you have questions about anything here, write to [email protected].
The short version
We collect email addresses from people who subscribe to the newsletter, and standard technical information that any website receives when you visit. We don’t sell your data, we don’t run advertising, and we don’t share your email with anyone except the service that delivers our newsletter.
The First Million Pathway simulator runs entirely in your browser. The income, savings, and net worth figures you enter are never transmitted to us or stored anywhere. Close the tab and they’re gone.
Newsletter subscriptions
When you subscribe, we collect your email address.
How it works. After you submit the form, you’ll receive an email asking you to confirm. You are not added to the list until you click that link. This is called double opt-in, and we use it so that nobody ends up on the list without asking.
Who processes it. Your email address is stored and processed by MailerLite, our email delivery provider. MailerLite is a data processor acting on our behalf. Their privacy policy is at https://www.mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy.
What we do with it. We use it to send the newsletter you signed up for. Nothing else. We do not sell, rent, or share subscriber lists.
What MailerLite records. Standard email metrics — whether a message was delivered, opened, and which links were clicked. We use this to understand which topics are worth writing more about.
Leaving. Every email includes an unsubscribe link that works immediately. You can also write to [email protected] and we’ll remove you. Unsubscribing removes your address from active sending; a suppression record may be retained so that you are not accidentally re-added.
Retention. We keep subscriber addresses until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
The First Million Pathway simulator
The simulator is worth describing separately, because people reasonably assume a financial tool is collecting their financial information.
It isn’t. All calculations happen locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your income, savings rate, initial capital, and every other input stays on your device. Nothing is sent to our server, nothing is logged, and nothing is stored between visits.
The simulator does load two external files in order to work:
- Chart.js, a charting library, from the jsDelivr content delivery network
- Web fonts from Fontshare
Loading a file from any external source means your browser makes a request to that provider, which necessarily reveals your IP address and browser type to them. This is how the web works and applies to most sites you visit, but we’d rather say so plainly than let you assume otherwise.
Information collected automatically
Server logs. Our host, Bluehost, keeps standard web server logs including IP addresses, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. These are used for security and troubleshooting. Bluehost’s privacy policy is at https://www.bluehost.com/legal/privacy.
Cookies. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not run analytics software on this site.
WordPress sets functional cookies in a small number of situations, none of which apply to ordinary visitors:
- If you log in as a site administrator, cookies store your login session and display preferences
- A temporary cookie is set on the login page to check whether your browser accepts cookies
If you are reading the site and using the simulator, you are not required to accept any cookies.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content such as videos or images from other sites. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited that other website directly — those sites may collect data about you, set their own cookies, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content.
Who we share your data with
We share personal information with the following service providers, only to the extent needed for them to perform their function:
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| MailerLite | Newsletter delivery | Email address, engagement metrics |
| Bluehost | Website and email hosting | Server logs, contents of email sent to our address |
| jsDelivr, Fontshare | Delivering charting library and fonts | IP address, browser type |
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information if legally required to do so.
International transfers
Our providers may store or process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union. Where required, these transfers rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards put in place by those providers.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct anything inaccurate
- Delete your information
- Stop sending you email, at any time
Write to [email protected] and we’ll respond within 30 days. There is no charge.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR (European Economic Area and UK) or the CCPA (California). We apply the rights above to everyone regardless of location, because maintaining two standards seemed like more trouble than it was worth.
If you are in the EEA or UK and believe we’ve mishandled your data, you have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has subscribed, write to us and we’ll delete the record.
Security
Data in transit between your browser and this site is encrypted using TLS. Our email is authenticated with SPF, DKIM, and DMARC. No system is perfectly secure, and we can’t guarantee against every possible failure, but we take reasonable measures.
Not financial advice
The simulator and the newsletter are educational. They present general projections based on figures you supply and assumptions we’ve chosen, and they are not personalized financial, tax, investment, or legal advice. Nothing on this site creates a professional relationship between us. Consult a qualified advisor about your own circumstances.
Changes to this policy
We’ll post any changes on this page and update the date at the top. Material changes affecting how we use your email address will be announced in the newsletter.
